Welcome

I am Jayce Mangum, an aspiring Information Technology professional with a passion for enterprise infrastructure, networking, and systems administration. I recently graduated from Lake Washington Institute of Technology with an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Security and Network Technology, earning Summa Cum Laude honors. I am also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

I enjoy designing reliable IT solutions, learning new technologies, and documenting projects in a way that others can understand, maintain, and build upon.

CSNT Capstone Project

Project

Completed a five-week enterprise infrastructure project demonstrating skills developed throughout the CSNT program. The project included technical implementation, more than 325 pages of documentation, a formal report, a presentation, and recorded demonstration videos.

My Journey into IT

My path into Information Technology has been shaped by technical curiosity, hands-on experience, and a strong background in customer-facing roles. Before transitioning into IT, I worked in customer service, retail management, warehouse operations, and telecommunications. Those roles helped me develop problem-solving, leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills that continue to benefit me in technical environments.

While earning my degree, I completed projects involving Windows Server administration, Linux systems, networking, cloud computing, Python, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript automation, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure design. Each project strengthened both my technical abilities and my appreciation for careful planning, documentation, testing, and continuous learning.

Current Infrastructure

Hosts the infrastructure behind my portfolio, virtualization environment, self-hosted services, development projects, and enterprise lab. Devices throughout the network are named after characters, locations, and creatures from The Legend of Zelda.

Outside of coursework, I maintain a personal home lab where I continue exploring enterprise technologies. It serves as a testing environment for virtualization, Linux servers, networking, automation, self-hosted services, and infrastructure changes before I implement new ideas in larger projects.

Building and maintaining a home lab has become one of my favorite ways to continue learning beyond the classroom while experimenting with both new and legacy technologies in a safe, controlled environment.

The lab is designed to simulate a modern enterprise environment by integrating networking, identity management, virtualization, cloud services, automation, storage, monitoring, and self-hosted infrastructure.

A good project should leave behind notes, diagrams, evidence, and explanations that help someone else understand it.

Personal Background

Beyond Technology

When I am not working on IT projects, I enjoy gaming, exploring new technologies, and revisiting some of my favorite games from childhood. I am a longtime fan of The Legend of Zelda series, which inspired the Master Sword Publications theme used throughout several of my academic projects.

I also have a background in digital media and video production, giving me experience in both technical and creative disciplines. That combination has helped me develop strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills alongside my technical work.

My other interests include hiking, camping, traveling, tabletop games, and spending time with friends. Scythe is one of my favorite board games, and I am currently learning Dungeons & Dragons while developing my own campaign as a Dungeon Master.

Next Chapter

Looking Forward

Completing the CSNT program at LWTech marks the beginning of the next chapter in my IT career. My goal is to continue growing as a systems administrator and infrastructure professional while expanding my knowledge of cloud computing, cybersecurity, automation, and enterprise networking.

This portfolio represents the work I have completed so far, and I look forward to adding many more projects as I continue learning and building throughout my career.
